DENOTATION AND CONNOTATION
The producer of the advert (Water Aid) is trying to convey the message that these people doesn't have the same lives as other people, as these people doesn't have enough supply for their home. The producer of the advert is also trying to convey the message that these peoples can possibly have disease from the environment around them and from how they live life.
Evidence:
They do this by creating the slogan "Dig toilets Not graves" which means these individuals doesn't have a toilet, they just do their business wherever they want. As these goes on things they let out can mix with what they drink and eat. The background shows that the kid is from a hot country. The look of the kid looks disappointed and looks a little miserable. Since Water Aid made an advert about these individuals these means that they need a clean supply of water.
Effect on Audience:
This persuades the audience that they need help. These adverts is possibly targeted to the government to make them feel guilty and help them, especially from charity.
Point:
The producer of the advert (eyehealth1st) is trying to convey that there's a lot of people who judge someone or an object without knowing the deeper meaning. The producer also trying to convey that if there's something wrong with your eye you should go to them.
Evidence:
They do this by making an eye visible at the top, but then a big iceberg invisible at the bottom. Since the producer want peoples to not judge a book by it's cover they connected this advert to an iceberg, because an iceberg might be small on the outside but it's big on the inside. The producer also mentioned the word 'catastrophic' which means they want peoples to come to them with physical injury or internal illness so that they can treat them and help them. By help they meant that their help can have a big impact to the persons daily life. The background is all blue which means ocean, but blue can also mean tears, maybe the producer would like to convey that if the peoples don't go to their health center they'll be crying from pain. The sky is all plain, as you can see the upper part of the picture doesn't have a lot going on, nut when you look at the lower part of the picture it's all there, information etc.
Effect on Audience:
This persuades an audience with something wrong with their eyes come to them. These will make the audience feel like something wrongs gonna happen in the future if they don't let them check their eyes.
